Skies, Clouds, and Sunsets

Pastel Workshop

Saturday April 18 and Sunday April 19, 2020   

 

 

    


Learn to paint skyscapes with pastels in this two-day workshop. On day one you'll learn underpainting techniques, perscpective and value relationships in clouds, and the unexpected colors that make convincing skies. On day two we'll paint a sunset, building and expanding on the skills learned from from day one. Both days include demonstrations, painting, and plenty of individual attention at your easel. 

All levels welcome! 
Pastel experience is not required. 

Time: 9:15am-12:15pm. 
Location: Center For The Arts, 33 Hawley St. Northampton, MA. 

Tuition: Early Bird Registration by Feb. 29, $125 + Materials. 
After Feb 29, $145 + Materials.

Ongoing Private and 

Semi-Private Classes (Group of 2-4)


Come by yourself or with friends. Private or small-group lessons give you the benefit of personalized classes that let you learn at your own pace and explore new techniques as they align with your growth as an artist. 



Pastel: 

Both beginner and experienced pastelists welcome. Note: Pastel classes have a maximum number of three students, not four.

Specialty classes focused on topics such as: creating homemade painting surfaces, wet underpainting techniques, working outdoors in plein air*, can also be scheduled.


Classes For Artists Working In Any Medium: 

Drawing: Improve your sketching and drawing with various techniques.

Plein Air*/ Still Life Sketching: Discover the strategies for finding and accurately sketching a composition when working outside or with a still life.

Sizes and Ratios: In just one class, learn how to match the size of your paper/canvas to both a photo reference or scenes from life. Working in the correct ratio will give you more accurate drawings and compositions.

iPhone Photography, Take Great Reference Photos: In two or four classes learn techniques for taking and editing better reference photos with your iPhone.

Feedback and Critique: Gentle, honest, focused feedback is important to any artist's growth. Critiques can take place either in my studio or by email. Private sessions only.


Each class lasts 2.5 hours. Contact Meg to discuss scheduling.
* Plein Air classes are April-May, September-October weather permitting Each class is $10 dollars over the stated rate to account for travel time. 

Rates:

Private Lessons: $65 per session, or $55 if you book four sessions at once.
Semi-Private Lessons: 2 Students $55 per person, per session. $45 per person, per session if your group books four sessions at once.
3+ Students $45 per person, per session. $35 per person, per session if your group books four sessions at once.
